Matador Man cleaned up at the KZN Breeders Awards.

Scott Bros’ two star geldings, Matador Man and Talktothestars, both excelled at the KZN Breeders Awards on Saturday evening and brought us home plenty of silverware. Crusade was recognised as a future stallion prospect.

Matador Man, by Toreador who sadly passed away on Sunday morning, is out of Mogok mare Sahara and took home the KZN Breeders Awards for Champion 3YO Colt and Champion Middle Distance Male. He excelled last season by winning the Secretariat Stakes Listed, placing a close third in the Gr1 Champions Cup and winning the KZN Breeders Million Mile.

Matador Man is trained by Sean Tarry and partially owned by Robin Scott with a syndicate.

Talktothestars was close in several features last season, and ran a brilliant close second to Search Party at Greyville in the Gr2 Merchants. Last years KZN Breeders Horse Of The Year, he followed through with the awards for Champion Sprinter and Champion Older Male.

Talktothestars is owned and trained by Coenie De Beer, who had a Stakes Place recently with Lady Starlett, the full sister to Talktothestars.

Another pleasing surprise saw Crusade take home the Award for Outstanding Stallion Prospect. As it happens, Crusade had an exacta at Turffontein on the night of the awards in the last race. Crusade has produced 19 individual winners and a stakes placed horse in Zimbabwe.

Crusade is a Gr1 winning half-brother to dual Gr1 European winner, Seventh Heaven. His half-brothers are Group Placed Cristoforo Columbo and Coat Of Arms.
