The Scott Brothers – Des, Neville and Robin established Highdown Stud in 1967 in Kwa Zulu Natal. Scott Bros’ Matador Man ran a phenomenal third in the Gr1 Champions Cup, after not jumping out the stalls on terms and trailing by four or five lengths. His Crusade half-brother Subtropical also caused a stir when the handsome colt won the second race of the day with First Crusade placing fourth – giving Gr1 Middle Park Stakes winner Crusade his seventh winner of the season (six in South Africa).
